Screen Week – ETF Market Laboratory
Way back, when I was a stockbroker, I used to have a saying with clients; “Tell me whether you are bullish or bearish, give me a couple of hours and I’ll get back to you with exactly why you are right!” The point being, that you or I, can make either case based on recent news, fundamental data, or technical data. A very sound and convincing case as well. Depending upon your choices the picture can be very deceiving as I think many of you are aware. What you are doing, is attempting to justify your biases, and that is precisely the wrong thing to do. The markets don’t care what your biases are.
You want to, as much as possible, be aware of the “Big Picture” within your time frame and your asset class investments. Time frame is not only an important consideration when you’re buying/selling, it’s also a very important consideration when you’re reading, all the gibberish that is published and spoken. Therefore one needs tools to aid in your determination of the ‘Big Picture‘ within your time frame. If your a day trader much of this is irrelevant but if your more of a swing trader or intermediate trader or even longer term investor it’s essential. If you have the ‘Big Picture” correct it will bail you out of timing errors.
