ETF Range Projections

Overseas markets, are quietly lower as participants are preoccupied with the theater in Washington: Nikkei 225 -0.50%, Hang Seng -0.13%, Shanghai +0.76%, DAX -0.43% and the FTSE -0.32%.

At about 7:25 AM ET, ahead of the durable goods orders the futures are little changed: DOW -6, S&P -3, NAZ  -4, Oil -$0.71 and Gold +$3.10

Percent Of Moving 50 & 200 Day Moving Average

One way of measuring a markets movements, would be to take a reading of it’s price as a percentage of it’s  moving average, such as the popular 50-day and 200-day. This is a measurement of distance, a measurement of overbought/oversold.  I’ve taken the liberty of adding the same time frames slope of the linear regression line for comparison.

Looking at the relationship to the 200-day moving average the NASSAQ Biotech index is the furthest above it’s 200 day moving average at 9.7% above the average. Click pictures to make full size.
